4.Interpretation of Pearson's correlation
- correlation≠causal relationship
- The range of scores in the data has a very large impact on the correlation.
- Extraordinary values can have a very large effect on the correlation coefficient
- Interpretation of the strength of the relationship should take into account r², not just r.
- r>0.7 is highly correlated;
- 0.5<r<0.7 is moderately correlated;
- The correlation is only statistically significant for r > 0.3.
